1. Introduction
WPS (Wireless Protocole Security) is an encryption/authentication protocol which is widely used in wireless networks.
It allows connecting to a wireless network without a password.
Pidgin uses this protocol to connect to wireless networks, so it supports WPS.
When you connect to a WPS-capable wireless network, Pidgin will display the password and PIN fields in the Chat window.
This was actually a feature request we received a while ago.
We wanted to enable the password fields to show up in the Chat window whenever Pidgin connects to a WPS-capable wireless network, so that users can avoid entering their password and PIN each time they connect to the wireless network.
However, there are still some problems with the protocol.
If you try to connect to a wireless network with WPS, it may not work immediately.
This is because Pidgin sends an “Authorize” request to the network to perform authentication.
In the meantime, the Chat window will keep showing the name of the wireless network and the encryption information of the wireless network.
This can confuse users.
So we disabled the “Show wireless encryption info in the Chat window” option in Pidgin to prevent this issue from happening.
Now if you try to connect to a wireless network using WPS, it may not work immediately.
If this happens, we will be happy to try to solve this issue for you in Pidgin.

Sound alert is based on the idea that Pidgin will notify you by playing an alert sound when you get incoming messages or when you get a file transfer or authorization request.
The requirements are:

There are many people who are busy trying to make the file transfer and authorization happen. However, I found that the most common problem is the lack of synchronization between the incoming and outgoing messages. If we just play a sound when the incoming message arrives, then the sound will be triggered when the file transfer finishes.
The goal is that we should play the sound right after the incoming message appears, and not before. That will prevent the problem of playing the sound when the file transfer is about to start.
